Get to know us

the basics

Alpha Chi has five main values: academic interest, character, financial responsibility, leadership ability, and personal development.  Our colors are scarlet red and olive green, which, in part, represent our flower, the red carnation.  Our symbols are pearls and the lyre, a musical instrument to honor our musical history.  Also, our patron goddess is Hera, guardian of women.

There are also some holidays that are significant to Alpha Chi such as Hera Day, a day of community service, which is celebrated on March 1st and Founder's Day, which is celebrated on October 15th.  We also celebrate MacDowell Month in February, which is a month when we show extra appreciation to the fine arts.

The Symphony

of Alpha Chi Omega

To see beauty even in the common things of life,

to shed the light of love and friendship round me;

to keep my life in tune with the world

that I shall make no discords in the harmony of life;

to strike on the lyre of the universe

only the notes of happiness, of joy, of peace;

to appreciate every little service rendered;

to see and appreciate all that is noble in another, be her badge what it may;

and to let my lyre send forth the chords of love, unselfishness, sincerity.

This is to be my symphony.
