A letter from the president
My name is Lakin Shelton and I have the amazing opportunity to serve as Chapter President for the Gamma Zeta of Alpha Chi Omega at Kansas State. I hope that this website gives you a glimpse into the impact that Alpha Chi makes on our members (present and past), Kansas State University, and the Manhattan community.
Alpha Chi, just two words that were foreign to me 3 years ago as an incoming freshman to K-State. However, the words Alpha Chi mean so much more to me after just a couple years. Alpha Chi for me means home, support, resilience, lasting friendship, and compassion. These qualities, and many more, were something that I deeply longed for as a college student. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if a sorority would be able to fill all of the desires that I had. But oh how Alpha Chi changed my perspective the minute I walking in those bright red doors during the first day of recruitment. Ever since that day I have had a support system of 150 women who are there for me through the good times like Caturdays, Target runs, or weekend road trips. Or even the long days after a rough day of school or missing home a little extra that day. I can confidently say that though every emotion that college experience entails, an Alpha Chi has been alongside me to encourage and support.
When I walk through our red double doors, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of belonging and happiness, knowing that the Real. Strong. Women. of Gamma Zeta are making strides to be the best version of themselves and challenging each other to be better women than they were the day before.
Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and learn a little bit about what it means to be an Alpha Chi Omega and why I call it home.
